Editorial Review for Longview – by Elisabeth Bergman
In Short
Couples get married at Longview for the grounds. The house, built in 1925 by Progressive Farmer editor Clarence Poe and his wife Alice Aycock Poe, is elegant with Georgian Revival architecture and gray stone facade. But it's the expansive lawn, the picture-perfect outdoor swing, the feeling of being far removed from suburban sprawl that make this one of the most sought-after wedding spots in the Triangle. The house is behind Wake Medical Center, but upon entering the sheltered grounds, it's easy to forget a bustling city is nearby.

I went to a wedding here a couple of years ago, and it was gorgeous. The couple had a tent set up outside, and guests were encouraged to mingle both outside and inside the house. A bonus: the tree swing, perfect for romantic photos.
