Editorial Review for Champps – by Whitney Friedlander
In Short
Using their original burgers-and-beer joint in St. Paul, Minn., as a base modl, this sports-themed chain is now a popular hangout for all ages nationwide. The memorabilia-loaded space is crowded with families and friends chatting over chili cheeseburgers, bourbon-glazed pork chops and large orders of soups and salads. On major game nights, the shiny wooden bar area is packed with small groups eyeing the monitors above while cheering or grumbling into their pints and fries.

Very nice atmosphere, [could do without the cigarette smoking though, but that's personal preference]. Quick to be seated even on busy nights. Very accommodating for families with small children and super friendly waitstaff. The first time my family and I went to Champps was late on a Wednesday night [Live music night]. It was fabulous, I am not usually a fan of live music but the man they had, had a GREAT voice making the ambiance wonderful. Huge TV screens all around let any sports fan feel right at home. The food is great I personally can't get enough of their quesadilla's SUPER FLAVORFUL and very fresh tasting, never greasy. My husband is a fan of the Pepperjack Bacon Stack Burger. The only thing I have found odd is my daughter has gotten the chocolate milk there twice and both times thrown up???[She is not lactose intolerant]...I have no idea why she does from their milk but needless to say she gets sprite there now. I would definitely recommend this place to EVERYONE, and if you are a fan of live music check out Wednesday nights.
Pros: Great food, Great Music, Sports Fan Heaven
Cons: Chocolate Milk Problems?, No desserts that I like

My family has chosen Champps as one of our favorite places to dine. They offer a family-friendly atmosphere that is rare in a sports tavern. The staff readily accomodates our requests to tune one or more of the multitude of TV screens to a preferred sporting event or, for the kids, a particular fun channel. The staff has never failed to greet us with warm smiles. We really feel welcome here. The menu offers a wide variety to suit our various tastes. Our satisfaction seems to be their top priority. Even to the point of instantly and cheerfully replacing an entree that was a little spicier than we expected. I really appreciate that kind of service. I see that a previous reviewer has listed Champps as "Not Kid Friendly" and have to take that statement to task. I have found Champps to be extremely kid and family friendly. This is especially so on their popular "Kid's Night" when families flock in to see the Champps' hilarious magic & balloon entertainer. I can't think of a better, more comfortable place to kick back with a good meal and watch any major sports or televised event with my friends & family. Highly recommended. Thank you, Champps!
Pros: Every seat in the house is a good seat for viewing top sports and other TV events.
Cons: Nonsmokers should ask to be seated well clear of the open bar area.
