The Scene
A recent addition to modest Corolla lodging alternatives (most visitors rent homes), this sprawling beachfront hotel consciously blends into surrounding sand dunes with natural colors and an unobtrusive design. Surrounded by the luxurious beach houses in the Pine Island neighborhood, the Hampton is a convenient--though pricey in high season--option for visitors who don't want to stay a whole week.
The Details
Beyond the large, welcoming lobby, two pools are separated from the beach by sand dunes. In addition to the Lazy River pool, kids will appreciate the indoor pool and game room, while adults will enjoy the free breakfast bar, exercise room and whirlpool spa. A small lobby shop sells snacks and sundries, and the hotel is conveniently located next door to the 1950s-style Pine Island Diner. Spacious rooms and suites are tastefully decorated. All accommodations feature private balconies, microwaves and refrigerators.
