Editorial Review for Ess Lounge & Nightclub – by Neha Shah

In Short
Sultry lounge, sexy singles scene, and drinks galore--a complete night on the town. The rock garden with its own babbling brook and open bar area offer minglers areas to loosen up and party down. Pulsating, music, dancing, drink specials, and the occasional pizza are what keep singles coming back for more. Get back your groove, look for love, or just have a strong drink to forget the day's events.

Me and a group of my friends decided to go to ess lounge on a saturday night and may I say that was the biggest mistake of the night! The only good thing about the bar was the $5 cover however there is a catch, the drinks are almost double that. I mean we are not in DC, NY or Toronto seriously. The crowd was really snooty and people just shoved u all over the place and it wasn't even packed and some girls were just over the top on everything, not all but a select few, never seen anything like it but that was not the worst of it. The DJ was atrocious, completely horrible, there worst DJ on the face of the earth. DJ was mixing hip hop beats over rock lyrics and techno over hip hop. The whole time i was there, he repeat the same song at least 3 times over a different beat. All I wanted to hear was just one original song with it's original beat. There was no rhyme or reason to what he was doing, I mean I have been to bars were dj's do that in NY and it is actually really good, when done right. This guy had no idea what he was doing and I glanced over at him and he was jammin to his own stuff so he must have thought it was good. It is a really nice bar, and maybe i wouldn't have mind the price of drinks or even noticed the people, if the DJ was decent, even just okay. What a waste of a night! I will never ever ever go to that bar ever again and don't recommend anybody does, if they actually want to have a good time.

Pros: Cover was decent even for us showing up at midnight.

Cons: DJ was the WORST! Drinks where to much!

We had an engagement party booked for Saturday night. We reserved the bar 3 months in advance by talking to the owner. He would't take any money just confirmed on the phone. We spoke to him in Oct, Nov, Dec, and again the day prior to the actual party. Saturday rolls around and we get there early to set up only to find another group of people setting up for their party at the same time! The ESS Lounge owner is vacationing in the Bahamas and the employees act like they don't have a clue what is going on. With our party of 125 people starting in 30 minutes we had to find another bar to accomodate us (THANK YOU- to White Collar Crime!) There was one guy at ESS who was helpful and felt bad about the whole thing. He did help us in relocating our party. However, having to move an entire party with 30 minutes notice is just not okay. We were all very disappointed with the mishap. I will never take my business to the ESS lounge again.
