horrible, avoid at all costs. this is not fresh good chinese food. frozen food from harris teeter next door is better and cheaper. i have given this place 5 and 6 time chances ordering different meals. you can do better at home with a wok, vegetables and oil. go to taste of thia if you have the time on falls of neuse, if not, go to chilis and forget about it!

Panda King is in a new strip mall next to Harris Teeters. They have the requisite tile and marble floors along with the ever present photos of "their" dishes. It's a take out joint. It is a pleasant, though bright, atmosphere. The food we ordered was General Tso's Chicken, Fried Dumplings and Chicken Chow Mein. We always order these items the first time we try a Chinese restaurant to give them equal points of comparison. General Tso's chicken was sweet and the heat was provided by dried red pepper flake, not small hot red peppers. This gives a very different heat and flavor. The chicken is some product they must buy pre-breaded that they simply deep fry. It was better than any other Chinese take out but, not up to our expectations. Other Chinese take outs in NY/NJ prepare the chicken fresh, though I see the frozen prepared battered chicken becoming pervasive everywhere. The chicken chow mein was simply onions, celery, and tenderized white chicken in their "white sauce" with a garlicky overtone. It was missing something like bean sprouts ??? Well prepared and tasty, overall. The dumplings were sublime !!!!! Thin wrapper skin with a nicely browned surface filled with tender and well balanced flavorful pork !! Fantastic !! This establishment had the entire order completed within 6 minutes. Everything must have been prepared in place ( i.e. vegetables pre cut) which is fine. The dumplings have to be prepared in advance. Overall view this place for what it is...Chinese food, Fast. GO !!!
