Armadillo grill is right down the street from a local favorite, Carrburritos, and while it doesn't offer quite the extravagance in either fillings or salsa, its convenience makes up for those failings. There is nothing eye-popping about Armadillo grill. If you've ever been to a Qdoba, Chipotle, Willy's, etc. then you'll know exactly what you're getting. The food is fresh and reasonably priced, although it can start to mount up if you go for their very popular queso dip or guacamole. A tiny salsa bar (two varieties) seems sparse, but the fact that you don't have to wait (Carrburritos) to talk to someone about getting more salsa is a huge bonus, especially for groups. It has a fairly spacious seating area, including decent outdoor seating, and its proximity to a good sized parking lot is another bonus.

Pros: Good value, free salsa, parking

Cons: Queso dip and Guac demand a high price (for this sort of place)

I ate at the restaurant the other night and found a huge piece of trash in my food. When I complained to the manager, they called the police on me. The service was completely rude. If you like to eat trash then you should eat here. If you have specific prefeneces, then do not eat here because you might get arrested.

Pros: nothing

Cons: awful management

I would be in bliss if I could have the Armadillo grill guacomole and a soft bean burrito every day. Though my friend raves about the steak fajitas, and another about the chicken enchiladas. We come at least a couple times a month to get our fiixes. The food is real, freshly prepared on site from the real deal. We love it!

Pros: delicious and inexpensive food

Cons: crowded on weekend nights

...eat at Armadillo Grill. I can think of basically nothing redeming about the food here. My beef taco tasted like someone took some store bought taco seasoning and added it to ground beef. There are literally dozens of good mexican places in the Durham/Chapel Hill area so there's no excuse to eat here. Well, that's not entirely true. When I challenge people that eat there, they say, if you're really drunk and it's really late... OK, so I suppose that's a fine enough reason to go.

Cons: the food

I think that the Armadillo Grill is a great place to go for the tacos. Two tacos and an order of nacho chips, washed down with a beer is a tasty inexpensive meal. Their ingredients are fresh and tasty, and they are very generous with the nacho chips. The atmosphere is pretty good too. I always find seating right away. Its a great place to go to when Im in the mood for some tacos or when the line at nearby Carrburritos is too long. (I recommend Armadillo Grill for the tacos and Carrburritos for burritos).

Pros: great tacos, low prices, quick service

I heard so many raves about this place that I just had to try it. After two visits, I still can't see what the fuss is about. Even for a bare-bones place, the food is worse than mediocre, especially the taco salad. There are so many good Mexican places in the area, why bother with this one?

Pros: , it's cheap

Cons: , the food!

I love ALL mexican food. I always so bad mexican food is better than no mexican food. There is nothing better than great healthy fresh not greasy mexican food and that is what is at armadillo grill. Good, fresh, great salsas and awesome margaritas

Gosh, if you're looking for a taco salad, go back to Taco Bell, but if you're looking for the best tacos, fajitas, soft tacos, guacamole, salsa, burritos, etc., this is your place. The food is a fresh as can be--and oh so tasty. I've been a fan since my first visit 7 years ago. And now, with a location in Raleigh, I can go for lunch, too. I just wish they'd open a branch in Durham (with ample parking).

Pros: Great Food

I got a chicken taco salad and it was pretty crappy--just a bunch of shredded iceberg lettuce over some tortila chips really. I don't know about anything else on their menu, but I was not impressed at all.

Pros: cheap prices

Cons: cheap food
