I guess my overall experience with my scott lee home is ok. nothing really bad and nothing really good. The contractors were fairly prompt in correcting any problems, except for the septic installer, called him several times for questions but he never called me back. I would think it would be good business sense if Scott Lee himself would call or send a card of thanks or something like that but from what I hear the Lee family is not very friendly. Would I buy another one? Probably not. but....at the same time I have seen worse quality from other builders. The problem is this...the builders hire contractors to do a job, it is a set rate so the builder doesn't care if takes them 3 weeks or 3 days to do it.

Pros: cheaper prices, excellent trim work

Cons: cheap rugs, sloppy painters, cheap appliances,

Have owned a Scott Lee Home for 2 years now. Never met Scott but his staff is useless. The house overall is generally ok if you like uneven walls here and there and dips in your floor. My yard, that is another thing. If you buy a home from this guy don't get one with a yard over .25 acres. I have just over an acre and my yard is a mess. Turns out they barried most of the scrap wood from the house and downed trees. This builder just does not care. This is now starting to show up since the soil is settling and after some big rains. Calls to the office (Tonee sp?) don't get returned and Tim the maintenance guy is clueless. His answer to everything is "Well this is not a custom home, they are production homes" All that for 215,000. Just be very careful when working with these people. Half my outlets were loose and ones that were supposed to be GFCI were not and could have resulted in electrocution. Deck built is junk wood and neighbor said he watched it lay in mud and rain for months before it was built. I personally know of at least 6 other people that have much more problems then me. This builder just does not care.

I purchased a scott lee home two years ago and love it. I have some friends that bought one from another big local builder and they had nothing but problems and the builder would not come back. The few problems I have had scott lee has come back with no problems and fixed. can't beat the quality or price. would highly recommend this builder to friends.

Pros: good quality

Cons: none

We purchased our home in Sept 2006 from Scott Lee Homes and I have to say in a matter of less than 2 years, I am very disappointed with the product. We did have a home inspection. But here is the catcher. The things that are messed up occur after the home inspection & after that worthless warranty. If I buy another home, it will NOT be a Scott Lee Home. My first starter home of 120K, built by Heritage Homes in 2000 was of better quality than this 200K home. My issues: Hard wood floors separating at seams, the kitchen floor is uneven, the porch is chipping paint - due to the crew not priming it before they painted it. My Master bedroom floor creeks--this is due to the wall "racking" not just the uneven floor boards. My bathroom light was coming out of the wall, the upstairs AC Unit does not put out any cold air--I have a 17 month old child and we have to put fans in the window to cool the upstairs once the sun goes down! The drain pipe to the washing machine leaked or something, I just know I had water in my upstairs crawl space. Oh the back deck was warping before we closed, we tried several times for them to fix it. By front porch columns are warping too. The shower's handle was placed on wrong--it was giving cold water when it was turned to hot & vice-versa. It's amazing how many corner's they cut to mass produce. They really need to hire quality crews or be prepared to fix problems in a timely manner without cost to the buyer.

Pros: I like the floor plan & amount of land.

Cons: Shoddy Workmanship!

I've been in my Scott Lee home for over a year and have nothing but good things to say about them. I did have one minor problem called and someone was at my house within 2 hours fixed it. I would recommend a Scott Lee home in a second.

Pros: Great House

If you are considering purchasing a new home, run when you see the name Scott Lee Homes. I have had nothing but problems with my home and I have only been in it for six months. Mr. Lee does not stand by his products and his service people stink. Try to get them to return your calls and nothing. I have never seen such unprofessional bunch of people in all my life. Stay clear, if you want to buy a really good house go see some of the subdivisions in Flowers Plantation, Mill Creek West is really great!! 06/23/08 - My floors have been fixed to my satisfaction.

Pros: NO PROS

Cons: ALL CONS

To anyone looking at this builder please steer clear. Have owned a Scott Lee Home and know of about 12 other people who have and had nothing but issues with them. Floor problems, plumbing issues, etc. Once they build the house they are gone. Getting them to come back out is impossible. Not even sure why they offer a 1 year warranty. I have had to involve my attorney to get them to come back out. It is a really sad. Look elsewhere for a builder. Go with Stancil Builders or someone like that who does more custom work. You have been warned ahead of time. Ron
