If you were to ever speak the most perfect food order it would sound something like this, "San Shan Jang Pong, Korean style, 5 times spicy". This is easily one of my top 5 favorite foods of all time. It is roughly 3lbs of seafood and vegetable soup/stew. The homemade noodles are the best part. This is the true reason Marco Polo went to china and has since been celebrated as a national hero. The vast array of animals included in this soup is staggering and includes the following: chicken, beef, shrimp, squid, scallops and sea cucumber. Toss in some broccoli, cabbage, carrots, garlic and green onions to round out the vegetable quota. And finally the broth, you have the option of ordering - in order of increasing spiciness - mild, medium or hot for the amateurs or levels 1-10 for people whose opinion matters. All of this comes together creating soup perfection. A heads up, level 10 will melt your face off and ruin your colon. I have never been to a wing spot that can even stand in the same room a level 10 Jang Pong. I have level 10 when I want to make a good impression on a date or attend social gathering later that evening. The item authentic items are located on the Chinese portion on the back of the menu. I work with a large group of Chinese people and all concur that the “real” Chinese food is legit. The American Chinese food is mediocre at best. If you would like to better yourself as a human and become the person that others aspire to be, you’ll need to eat San Shan Jang Pong.
Pros: Greatest Soup Ever
Cons: American-Chinese food is garbage

Was in the area on business and stopped by for one of those what to do night dinner, do the usual hotel restaurant that is over priced and many times not so good. Decided to venture out. Asked the hotel staff for recommendations and this place were first on the list. Well located, right in the heart of RTP. Reminded me of the family type restaurants that my family goes to all the time in CA, friendly, very accommodating and outstanding value, and most important great food. What’s interesting about this place is the food is very traditional type, not like many other Chinese restaurants where it’s become the fast food type, fried rice was great, the dishes were individually cooked with correct sauces, not the one type of sauce for all dishes; this is one of the few places that are still the real thing. I wish there was place like this where my family lives in CA. If I'm ever back in town for business or what ever the occasion, this place is on the list for must stop by.
Pros: The Food, great value

With so many Chinese restaurants in the area, it is hard to find the best one. China Express is amazing and so far has beat all the local competition. We were seated immediately and service was prompt. For appetizers, the crab rangoon and wings are great. My friend and I, who are always a bit indecisive, asked the waitress about their specialties and she recommended the Jan pong. It was so good with homemade noodles and lots of seafood. Overall, really good food and service.
Pros: fast service

China Express has the best chinese food I've tasted in a long time. Coming from Vancouver, Canada - where the chinese food was exceptional - tasting the food here made me feel like I was getting a taste from back home (yes it is really that good at China Express). My favorite dish would be Jan Pong (hand made noodles in slightly spicy soup with generous portions of seafood and veggies mixed in). It's a must have. If you're looking for an appetizer, the spring rolls and the chicken wings are the best. The wings may look dark/overdone, don't let the look fool you, the are absolutely delicious (crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The service is top of the line, they were very prompt in seating my party and were very attentive.
Pros: great customer service, reasonably priced, prompt seating, food comes quickly

Our office ordered lunch to be delivered. We were never told of a delivery fee, which would have been fine, but we were not informed of prior. The driver did not know the cost of the items for payment and spoke poor english. The General Tso's chicken over battered and over cooked. The Szechuan Shrimp was not fuly cooked, and was explained that "was the type of shrimp". It was clearly uncooked, as it was still blue and grey, yet was told I was wrong. I asked for a refund, and they charged me for the eggroll that had been eaten since the shrimp was uncooked. The woman we spoke to was quite rude and unaccomodating. I will never eat here again. Raw, tasteless food and POOR customer service. I would highly recomment going to one of the other many chinese restuarants in the area.
Pros: Convenient
Cons: Raw food, POOR customer service

China Express has five great things you don't always find in a Chinese place: (1) English-speaking people taking your order; (2) Accommodating menu (you can substitute soup for rice and veggies for eggroll if you're health-conscious); (3) Tasty food that is not super-fried, and REAL chicken; (4) $5 combination plates ALL the time (not just at lunch); and (5) FAST delivery of the 100% CORRECT order ($1.50 charge) and they even deliver to Woodcroft! We ordered the combination plates of Cashew Chicken and General Tso's Chicken. I thought they were great; my dinner companion (who always uses extra butter on everything) thought the rice wasn't "fried" enough. If you like deep-fried, high-fat chinese food, this place isn't for you. If you like delicious food that doesn't taste like grease, check this place out. NOTE: I've only ordered via delivery, so I have no idea what the ambiance at the restaurant is like.

For over fifteen years, China Express has always been our favorite place to go whenever we are thinking about handmade Chinese noodles. If you are a noodle lover, you have to try their San Shan Jan Pong or San Shan Za Jan Mein.
Pros: Good food, inexpensive, good service
